We are now looking to recruit Recycling Operatives (Non-Ferrous) to join our team at our Bilston site.
The Role
As a Non-Ferrous Scale Operator, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the yard, ensuring non-ferrous materials are correctly identified, sorted, and processed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, sort and process non-ferrous metals in accordance with company procedures
- Customer service assisting with weighing materials and dealing with suppliers and public deliveries
- Work closely with others, ensuring good communication and following instructions
- Operate plant equipment and FLT (Forklift Truck) where trained
- Maintain good housekeeping practices ensuring area is always clean and tidy
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and safe systems of work
- Assist with general yard duties as required
- Often working in various weather conditions
- You will work closely with the yard team and management to maintain high operational standards.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience in scrap metal recycling
- Has knowledge of non-ferrous metal
- Comfortable working in different aspects of a scrap yard
- Has FLT experience or licence (desirable)
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Undertaking nights out up to four nights per week, as required by the Company.
- Any other duties as directed by the transport team.

- Smart and professional appearance.
- The ability to work both as part of the team and by yourself.

The Role:
We are looking to recruit a Recycling Operative to join our established team based at our site in Hitchin. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in a period of significant change and be part of the next chapter in this well-established Recycling Business.
What you will be doing:
- Undertaking the depollution of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs) – removing and storing parts safely (full training provided)
- Removing of catalytic convertors from vehicles
- Working closely with others, ensuring good communication and following instructions
- Ensuring all paperwork is completed
- Maintaining all plant and equipment as well as reporting any faults or defects immediately
- Working outdoors
- Manual work with heavy lifting involved
- Ensuring compliance with environmental and health and safety policy and rules
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices ensuring area is always clean and tidy
- Any additional ad-hoc duties
- Working on a picking line
- Responsible for ensuring the safe loading of containers on site
- FLT duties (if qualified)
- Any other ad-hoc duties required.
The ideal candidate:
- Recycling / scrap experience
- Experience of removing engines
- An ability to work under pressure, solve problems and provide a consistently positive contribution to the team
- Mechanical experience / interest in cars
- You will also: ensure high standards of delivery and customer service; be determined, resilient and flexible; demonstrate a positive attitude
